Josh Hollway is the proud dad of his kids, daughter Java and son Hunter.

Before rising to fame playing bad boy Sawyer on the ABC drama Lost, Josh met his wife, Yessica Kumala Holloway, at a bar in 1999. They went on to marry on Oct. 1, 2004.

The couple originally didn’t plan to become parents, but “changed their minds” after finding a “loving relationship” with each other. “Basically, nature happened,” the actor told TV Guide in December 2008. “[Having] children becomes a part of it.”

Josh and Yessica welcomed Java on April 9, 2009, followed by Hunter on Jan. 27, 2014. Becoming a father made the Duster star want to succeed even more.

“It’s made me hungry, and so joyous about life in general,” he told PEOPLE in February 2010. “I feel a responsibility to be a better human being. To be [Java’s] hero. I mean, I gotta be. I will be.”

Here’s everything to know about Josh Holloway’s kids, Java and Hunter.

Josh and Yessica became parents for the first time when they welcomed their daughter Java on April 9, 2009, in Oahu, Hawaii, where Josh was filming Lost at the time.

“Dad and mom are absolutely thrilled,” a source confirmed to PEOPLE. “Everyone’s happy and healthy.”

In 2023, Josh reminisced about bringing his “little bunny” Java home from the hospital on Easter Sunday. “And now she’s all grown up!” he added on Instagram.

The Colony actor quickly took to parenthood. “[I change diapers] all the time! I’m super fast,” he told PEOPLE in 2010. “I bathe her, I do everything.”

He even took a role on the children’s series Yo Gabba Gabba just for his daughter.

“That was one of the hardest days of my entire career because, man, you have to be so high-energy all day long for a children’s show,” he said on The Queen Latifah Show in January 2014. “I got home and I was like, ‘I need a cocktail!’ But it was fantastic, I loved it.”

While growing up, Java frequently went on trips with her family. In 2017, Josh told a hilarious story on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert about his daughter making fun of his “dad bod” while on a Hawaiian vacation.

A year later, Josh shared a story about Java catching “a nice sized bass” while on a camping trip, wanting to clean and cook it.

“We get all the way [back to camp] with the fish and she says ‘I want to let it go, Dad,’ ” he told The Chew in 2018. “[She] runs like a gazelle down this embankment and puts it in the water and holds it and lets it go.”

The now-teenager is a runner and baker who inspires her father every day. “Who you are makes me want to be a better person,” he wrote on Facebook in September 2024 for National Daughter Day.

Josh’s son Hunter Lee was born on Jan. 27, 2014.

While the actor admitted he was “full of fear” with his first child, things were different with his second. “We’re calmer, which makes everything better,” he told CBS in March 2014.

In January 2017, Josh told Women’s Health that they have an extremely close-knit family — even sharing a bedroom.

“At home, we all sleep in the same room,” he said. “So I wake up thinking about how beautiful my children are, lying there sleeping … and also how annoying it can be when they wake up.”

The Yellowstone star enjoys sharing everything with his children, including his love of music.

In December 2019, Josh posted a video of himself playing Christmas songs on the piano with his daughter and son. “Merry Christmas to your family from ours,” he captioned it.

Hunter has also been on several trips with his parents. In 2022, Josh posted a snap from a beach vacation, writing, “my boy and i love to swim together. in the water is our happy place.”

Two years later, Hunter joined his parents on a French vacation. “merci 🇫🇷,” Josh wrote alongside a photo dump from the trip.

As he’s grown, Josh has shared different pieces of advice with his younger child. “My little man. Watching you grow into your superpowers is absolutely incredible!” he wrote in a message for Hunter’s birthday in 2022. “Be careful, but be bold! I love you with everything in me.”
