GRAPEVINE, Texas — The suspect in a jet ski hit-and-run that killed an 18-year-old teenager has been taken into custody, officials say.
Texas Game Wardens and the Grapevine Police Department announced on Tuesday that Daikerlyn Alejandra Gonzalez Gonzalez was arrested in connection with the incident.
Ava Moore, 18, was struck while in her kayak on Grapevine Lake on Sunday, May 25, according to a news release from the Texas Game Wardens and the Grapevine Police Department. Initial details released by authorites indicate that Moore was hit by a jet ski with two women on it.
The woman who was operating the jet ski fled the scene with a man, who then crashed his vehicle into another car before fleeing, according to authorities. The other woman on the jet ski stayed behind and spoke with first responders.
Officials say more details about the arrest and incident will be available later.
