Boats crashed, sank and washed ashore in South Lake Tahoe on Saturday due to a thunderstorm. Video submitted to KCRA 3 shows the moments when waves carried boats into one another near The Grove Beach Bar & Grill at Camp Richardson. A manager for the restaurant said no injuries have been reported and their dock hand made sure people were away from the beach and boats when the storm hit. No damage was done to the restaurant. On Sunday, at least two damaged boats were still in the water. One boat was slowly sinking and a crew was trying to recover another overturned boat in the water.Several other damaged boats were on shore and in the marina parking lot.Allen Miller of San Diego watched the storm roll in about 3 p.m. on Saturday.”Mostly just wind and probably, I’d say three foot crashing waves, just just battering the beach,” Miller said.He said that morning he and his grandson were hiking near Emerald Bay and rangers were warning people of an impending snowstorm.”Most people had shorts and T-shirts,” he said. “It was, ‘get out of the back country before the afternoon.'”Miller said later in the evening it was warm and sunny again.The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office said on Sunday that there were hazardous materials near Camp Richardson’s pier. There are also concerns that the water system for homes along Jameson Beach Road may be impacted. Homeowners along Jameson Beach Road are being asked to not use their water systems until the sheriff’s office can evaluate.On the same day of the thunderstorm, a boat overturned near D.L. Bliss State Park, leaving six people dead, two others injured and two people still missing.
