KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Hail storms earlier this week left behind damage on cars and other property.
Walter Hall, an insurance agent, said the claims have been flooding in.
“At 3:00 yesterday, we had received 1,001 claims — 380 of those were homes or property and the balance was to vehicles.”
Erie Insurance company has deemed the hail storm a catastrophic event.
When catastrophic events happen, they set up a drive-thru inspection. With so many claims and only so many adjusters, this makes the process easier.
“So by having the drive in/thru, it makes more sense. It’s more convenient for the policy holder, but it is also a quicker turnaround,” Hall said.
The drive-thru inspections are not just for anyone. These inspections are only for policy holders with Erie Insurance.
“Other adjusters will be evaluating and looking at your car and assess damage. You’ll pull up, get to the next step, that evaluation will be printed out and we will be having check available for our policy holders on the spot,” Hall said.
Auto body shops will also be onsite, as well, to evaluate and set up a time to get damage fixed.
The drive-thru locations will be set up at Cardinal Chevrolet in Hurricane and Joe Holland Chevrolet in South Charleston.
