The coach speaks before the fixture against Getafe CF
Manolo González insists his players keep their feet on the ground and continue improving week after week.
Having beaten Rayo Vallecano and Celta Vigo, Getafe now await, in a Friday night fixture at the RCDE Stadium. The coach spoke to the media ahead of the important contest.
“It will be tough, for sure. I’ve known (Getafe coach) José Bordalás for years, and he’s always achieved his goals. Tomorrow’s game will be extremely difficult. We have to be patient, level-headed, and run when we can,” he told journalists.
“Having rewatched the first game between us this season, we didn’t deserve to lose, but it wasn’t a good game. We didn’t take our chances. That day we had three or four, and didn’t take advantage of any of them.”
González added that the squad are not letting their recent form go to their heads, saying that “we are aware and we know where we’re coming from. Good moments are there to be seized. The players look completely switched on, and the team will definitely come out to give their all. We have our feet on the ground and we can’t stop competing. We have to give everything, stay alert, and be aware of what’s happening.”
“This match is decisive, but many variables also come into play. We are also a problem for the opposition, because they know we’re competing well and that it will be difficult for them. Getafe are a recognisable team. All of their players know very well what they have to do. It will be a difficult match, but we are capable of beating any opponent.”
