Since Taylor Sheridan writes such swoon-worthy love stories like Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) as well as Alex (Julia Schlaepfer) and Spencer Dutton (Brandon Sklenar), it makes total sense that his real-life love is just as juicy. The Yellowstone creator and writer has been married to actress and model Nicole Muirbrook since 2013, and as you’ll discover in what follows, we’ve found out everything you need to know about her.
How Taylor Sheridan and Nicole Muirbrook met
Sheridan and Muirbrook met in an acting class in Los Angeles, California, in the late 2000s, after she divorced Christian Wagner in 2008.
They dated for a few years before welcoming their son, Gus, in September 2010. This resulted in Sheridan leaving both acting and Los Angeles, telling the Austin American-Statesman in 2017, “I didn’t want to raise my son in L.A., and I didn’t want to have to look him in the eye and tell him I couldn’t take him to a baseball game because I had an audition for a Windex commercial.”

Sheridan and Muirbrook then moved to Utah—where she is from—and got married in September 2013, three years after welcoming their son.
“To the man I get to do life with. Thank you for the countless smiles, crazy adventures and all the things in between,” Muirbrook wrote on Instagram for their seventh wedding anniversary in 2020. “I couldn’t ask for a better husband or father to our son. Happy anniversary, baby. I love you.”
Taylor Sheridan and Nicole Muirbrook move to Texas
After living in Utah for a while, Sheridan and Muirbrook decided to move to a place that better complemented their cowboy roots.
“We were living in Park City [Utah], and Taylor really didn’t like the snow,” Muirbrook told Cowgirl Magazine in 2021. “So, he rolled over one morning and said, ‘Honey, we’re getting the hell out of here,’ and I’m, like, ‘Where are we going?’ ‘We’re going to go to Texas,’ he replied.”
“We actually bought the house before I’d ever seen it,” she continued. “With the hectic schedule of Yellowstone, he was, like, ‘Maybe we should go see the house.’ So, I flew there on a weekend and I loved it.”
The couple now owns two ranches in Texas, Bosque Ranch and 6666 (four sixes). The former was featured in season 4 of Yellowstone and is expected to become the background for an upcoming spin-off series.

“The legacy of the 6666 Ranch and Miss [Anne Windfohr] Marion’s vision for the ranch are vital not only to the ranch itself, but the rich heritage of ranching in Texas,” Sheridan told the Star Telegram in 2021, referring to 6666 founder Samuel Burnett’s great-granddaughter.
Now that the family lives on the ranch and can embrace their inner cowboys, it makes total sense that their son Gus loves it.
“He’s never on his phone. He’s never on his Xbox. He’s always outside with the dogs, fishing with his buds or roller-skating in the barn,” Muirbrook told Cowgirl Magazine. “He also ropes, so he’s often on horseback. He’s just always doing something.”
Nicole Muirbrook’s thoughts on ‘Yellowstone’
Being married to a famous and prolific writer like Sheridan cannot be easy, but according to Muirbrook, she adores it. She tells Cowgirl Magazine, “It’s fun seeing my husband have his own brand.”
“He comes from here. Between the horses and the TV side of things, I don’t know where it’s going to go, but it’s always a roller coaster going somewhere fast.”

The couple still lives in Texas with their “two dogs, some chickens and cats.”
