Caitlin Clark takes on year two in the WNBA
USA TODAY’s Meghan Hall breaks down what she is expecting to see from Caitlin Clark in year two in the W.
Sports Seriously
The Caitlin Clark effect is already in effect before the WNBA season is officially underway.
Her 2025 debut with the Indiana Fever back at the University of Iowa drew the kind of audience only LeBron James has for a preseason game over the past 15 years, according to ESPN. There’s anticipation for what might be in store for Clark after earning rookie of the year honors last season, and the heights the league might reach because of her.
First, though, there’s a preseason finale to play.
The Fever are scheduled to face the Atlanta Dream on Saturday afternoon exactly one week before starting the WNBA regular season with a nationally televised opener against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky. Clark had 16 points and a 36-foot 3-pointer in her first preseason action during Indiana’s 108-44 win over the Brazilian National Team at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Both the Fever and Dream are coming off seasons in which they were eliminated in the first round of the WNBA playoffs.
