Note: The USGS upgraded Tuesday’s earthquake from a 2.8 to a 3.0 after it was initially reported.
BUCKINGHAM, Va. (WWBT) – A 3.0-magnitude earthquake rattled parts of Virginia on Tuesday afternoon.
The United States Geological Survey says the earthquake was centered in Buckingham County about 5 miles south of Dillwyn and 55 miles west of Richmond. This was about 38 miles east of Lynchburg and 38 miles south of Charlottesville.
This quake comes less than a week after a small earthquake near Short Pump.
There have been no immediate reports of damage.
