Slade Cecconi was originally scheduled to take the mound, but he had his start day pushed back while dealing with a groin injury. In his place, Kolby Allard will open the game in what will effectively be a bullpen game.

The Guardians have put together a five-run eighth inning, and they also now have a season-high 15 hits today.

With lefty Tanner Scott on the mound, Jhonkensy Noel and Will Wilson each singled and Daniel Schneemann drew a walk to load the bases with nobody out.

Guardians, Dodgers score update: Los Angeles continues to tack on runs
The Guardians took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but it’s been all Dodgers since that time.
In the seventh, Kike Hernandez scored from third via a Tim Herrin wild pitch to put the Dodgers up 4-1. And this Guardians lineup, especially without Kwan, is just lacking the needed punch.
Freddie Freeman extends Dodgers lead
The top of that Dodgers lineup is just absolutely brutal for opposing pitchers. The Guardians have at least limited Shohei Ohtani’s impact thus far, but there’s still Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman to deal with.

In the top of the sixth, with Betts in scoring position, Freeman lined a hard-hit single to right field, and Jhonkensy Noel’s throw home was just late, giving L.A. a 3-1 lead.

Guardians left fielder Steven Kwan has been pulled from the game in favor of Nolan Jones. The team hasn’t yet provided any details for the reason of Kwan’s departure.
