HGTV Star Page Turner Proves a Worthy Rival for David Visentin

Page Turner and David Visentin are reviving beloved HGTV series Love It Or List It, and it’s safe to say the new duo is up for the challenge. Realtor David has 19 seasons of the legacy show under his belt, and Page (star of Rock the Block, Fix My Flip, and Flip or Flop Nashville) brings her house-flipping experience, real estate expertise, and competitive spirit. For eight episodes, the two will go head-to-head, with David convincing homeowners to sell while Page redesigns their homes into something they’ll love. Country Living sat down with Page and David to find out what HGTV fans can expect when Love It or List It returns on April 21.

Love It or List It first aired in 2008 and has defied the odds to remain successful all these years later. To David, the reason for the show’s success is simple: “I think it’s that the fact that the show still resonates with people. People are still asking the question, and probably always will, because houses are not built for families to grow into. Unless you buy one that’s 5 bedrooms when you only have one kid, then you can grow into it, but most people don’t buy real estate like that. They buy houses that they need today.”

Longtime host Hilary Farr announced her departure in 2023, and HGTV found its new cohost in Page. Page explained that she and David took a chemistry test before they began filming and it was great. She says, “I feel like I’ve known David for just under half my life because he’s been on so long and he’s just like he is in person on TV. We had this great connection, cause I’m just gonna come as I am. I’m competitive, I’m sassy, I’m a little bossy, and he took it all in and he spit it right back out at me.” David chimes in with, “Page was somebody that I knew I wanted to get to know. I could see the personality within her. I knew I was going to find out some stuff that I didn’t know, but I knew the ride was going to be fun.”

Still, Page admits when she heard she’d be joining the show, “I actually fell out of my chair on the Zoom call. This is a legacy show. This is a flagship show on HGTV. I was like, that would be a yes. I felt like I knew David already. He had to get to know me, but I was coming into something that is so amazing and already set. I mean, this is a show I still watch, which is crazy. My kids grew up watching the show. So I’m in the best space ever.”

“I knew it was a heavy opportunity, but I knew I was strong enough to carry it.”

Page knows that HGTV fans are loyal, and, she says, “Change is hard for people. So I knew the mantle I was carrying was very heavy and there were private moments where I was like, oh, this is a lot, Page. There’s a lot riding on this show. I knew it was a heavy opportunity, but I knew I was strong enough to carry it.”

Page and David’s work is always faced with surprises, but the pros are well-equipped to handle what comes at them. With a combined 70 years of experience, they’ve seen it all. But, they remember, the decisions are business, not personal. Still, Page points out, “Business is always personal because money is personal, right? We’ve been in this business long enough to know how to manage people’s emotions because at the end of the day, we need to get the deal done and we’ve heard everything.”

Who will you be rooting for this season? New episodes air on Monday nights at 10 p.m. EST/9 p.m. CST on HGTV, and they’ll be available to stream next day on Max and Discovery+.
