Kaitlan Collins Wages Epic Battle Against Laughing Fit

CNN’s Kaitlan Collins fought the good fight Friday evening on her show when someone or something drew her attention away from her teleprompter, leading her to nearly break into uncontrollable laughter.

It was not clear exactly what humored the host, but after concluding an interview with two guests, Collins could barely make it to a commercial break.

The host thanked Alex Isenstadt from Axios and CNN political analyst Seung Min Kim after a discussion about Trump administration trade advisor Peter Navarro.

She then teed up a teaser for the show’s return, but barely made it through the beginning of the script:

Tonight, a tumultuous week at the Pentagon is being capped off by the departure of Joe Kasper, the chief of staff [high-pitched whistling laughter] the Defense Secretary. Excuse me. Politico is reporting tonight that Kasper is leaving for a new role at the agency, as three other Pentagon appointees were placed on leave this week amid an investigation into unauthorized leaks.

As Collins restrained an obvious urge to let out a chortle, the sound of another person laughing off-camera could also be heard.

“Now, a source tells us tonight, and we’re gonna continue to follow that story as we are watching the Pentagon very closely,” Collins said while holding back more laughter. “Meanwhile, as Seung Min just mentioned there, the president has taken another swipe at Jerome Powell.”

Collins was saved when her production team cued up music and cut to a break.

The host made no mention of the moment when her show returned from paying the bills, leaving curious CNN viewers on the outs regarding what appeared to be a killer inside joke.
