Metra trains in the west suburbs were halted for about 45 minutes Sunday after a pedestrian was hit by a train, Metra said.
The trains were stopped near Berwyn shortly before 5 p.m. after an Amtrak train hit a pedestrian, according to posts on the transit agency’s social media.
“BNSF inbound and outbound train movement is on the move and may be operating with extensive delays due to a pedestrian being struck by an Amtrak train,” Metra officials said in a statement.
The pedestrian’s condition was not yet known.
