A star-studded tag team match headlines this year’s MITB as Cody Rhodes and world heavyweight champion Jey Uso battle Logan Paul and undisputed WWE champion John Cena.
With the ladder matches selling the show, WWE can afford to book a tag team match of this type, with stars involved but no titles at stake. Does it feel cheap and a little like a cop-out? Sure, but with a two-night SummerSlam ahead on August 2-3, and a PLE in Saudi Arabia in between, there is no need to rush any championship matches.
Considering we last saw Rhodes eating a pinfall loss at WrestleMania following interference from Travis Scott, this feels like the perfect time for him to get his win back and set up the inevitable rematch against Cena.
Of course, the soon-to-be-retired Unseen 17 has not lost since the Royal Rumble, and there is always the possibility Scott could pop back up in Los Angeles, but this feels like a chance for The American Nightmare to get a measure of revenge and for Uso to silence Paul.
Prediction: Rhodes and Uso
