What is the oldest video game? It might not be what you expect.
Before Fortnite, Call of Duty and The Last of Us, other creative video games set the stage for the blockbusters we see today.
It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s… a new Fortnite season?
The mega-popular Battle Royale video game Fortnite is launching a new season on Saturday, and rumors have it that the new theme will feature superheroes. Chapter 6 Season 4 is set to launch Saturday, June 7 at 1:30 p.m. CDT, bringing the game’s current “Star Wars”-themed iteration to a close.
“Galactic Battle” will have one more live event before the season ends, Fortnite has announced. Here’s what to know about the event and the new Fortnite season.
Fortnite ‘Galactic Battle’ concludes with ‘Death Star Sabotage’ live event
Gamers are called to take out the Death Star, which has been hovering over the Fortnite island all season.
The “Galactic Battle” season will end with a “Death Star Sabotage” live event at 1 p.m. CDT Saturday, according to Fortnite.
“It’s time to get organized,” the game’s announcement says. “Intel states that you’ll have a short window of time on June 7 when the Death Star will be most susceptible to attack.”
Fortnite recommends joining the event early. Beginning at 11 a.m. CDT, a tile in the top row of Discover will be labeled “Death Star Sabotage.” Players can jump in early and pilot either an X-wing or Imperial TIE fighter to prepare for the fight. The event will support parties of four players.
Fortnite ended the announcement with a rallying call to battle.
“The time is nigh to take down the Empire’s superweapon from the sky — sabotage the Death Star on June 7 and put an end to Emperor Palpatine’s wretched plan!”
Why is Fortnite down? What time is the Fortnite update?
When the “Death Star Sabotage” live event begins at 1 p.m. CDT on Saturday, June 7, players will no longer be able to play Battle Royale and other game modes. It’s unclear when the live event will end, but when it does, Fortnite will experience a period of downtime.
The servers are typically down for two to five hours before the new season becomes available, but it’s also unusual for Fortnite to end a season midday.
